What is Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse?
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is an America chain of 139 steakhouses, specializing in upscale fine dining items, like steaks and an extensive wine list. Chris Steak House was founded in 1927 by Chris Matulich, at 11 Broad Street, New Orleans. Ruth Fertel purchased the restaurant in 1965. On her first day in the restaurant, May 24, 1965, she sold 35 steaks at $5 each.
Most Ruth’s Chris restaurants are open for dinner only, with only a few offering lunch also. Many restaurants offer business communications via satellite, ideal for business dinners. The company’s main competitors in the high-end fine dining steakhouse segment include (see menus): Longhorn Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday, Outback Steakhouse and Cheesecake Factory.
The restaurant chain is famous for its USDA prime steaks, with plates leaving the kitchen with a noticable ‘sizzle’. The restaurant also offer chicken, lamb, fish, shrimp and lobster dishes.
