What is Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse?
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is an America chain of 139 steakhouses, specializing in upscale fine dining items, like steaks and an extensive wine list. Chris Steak House was founded in 1927 by Chris Matulich, at 11 Broad Street, New Orleans. Ruth Fertel purchased the restaurant in 1965. On her first day in the restaurant, May 24, 1965, she sold 35 steaks at $5 each.
Most Ruth’s Chris restaurants are open for dinner only, with only a few offering lunch also. Many restaurants offer business communications via satellite, ideal for business dinners. The company’s main competitors in the high-end fine dining steakhouse segment include (see menus): Longhorn Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday, Outback Steakhouse and Cheesecake Factory.
The restaurant chain is famous for its USDA prime steaks, with plates leaving the kitchen with a noticable ‘sizzle’. The restaurant also offer chicken, lamb, fish, shrimp and lobster dishes. The portions are large, often large enough to serve two+ diners. Some dishes like the BBQ shrimp and the New Orleans style creamed spinach are 19th century Louisiana recipes from Ruth Fertel’s family. The popular “Ruth’s Classics” menu is a combo 3 course with a starter, entree and side, and dessert for a fixed price. The wine list at Ruth’s Chris includes over 200 wines.

There isn’t a main entree for Vegetarian/Vegan people. Sides are nice but, a cardiac plant base diet also could use protein! This prevents me from going there as a family, so I guess I’ll keep on looking elsewhere! (I do realize it’s a steak house).
wow—–i work for a living—-the prices are for congressman and donald trump—-i cant afford your food it is better to go to outback–applebees-ginos and mcdonalds and get my filling !!!!
Thank you I appreciate the prices, which are probably just generalities for reference as they certainly are subject to change. Still, it gives me a rough idea, as I’ve never been there. We have a couple gift cards we plan to use to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I’m wondering about the fixed price for the classics menu though, as I don’t see that included. We’ll find out soon for ourselves.
There are to many human beings going hungry in this world to warrant this kind of egotism. I am embarrassed at the self-absorption of way to many in the human race.
You say ‘The company’s main competitors in the high-end fine dining steakhouse segment include (see menus): Longhorn Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday, Outback Steakhouse and Cheesecake Factory.’ very very incorrect. These all offer steaks at half or less the cost. Ruth Chriss’s Competition would be the likes of Fleming’s, Charlie’s – but longhorn- outback – Cheesecake Factory, these are restaurants that people go to weekly, monthly. You would not be going to Ruth Chriss’s unless your in the upper 1% of the market that earns enough to afford a high end steakhouse like Ruth Chriss’s etc.
and for the the most parts your prices are all off to a varying degree.
Your prices are incorrect, they do not have a Rib eye for $43, its $53 for 16 oz, that’s the smaller rib eye they have, too big for me
where can i find ruth chris dinner menu with prices? We have a gift card from ruth chris and I have never been there. Can you help?
Don’t go unless you’re rich
