It was the 16 oz prime rib. no sauce just a burnt hunk of shoe leather. A steak house should be able to get a steak right. also ordered was the Kabob, meat was tough.

My family and I had a seriously bad experience at Texas Roadhouse in Waterbury. To begin with, we were seated at a table that was not cleaned properly. There was gook on the table, dirty napkins under the table, and peanut shells everywhere. We waited a good ten minutes before being approached by a waitress. The water we received was okay, and that was about it. My salad was disappointing and looked like someone had thrown it together wicked fast. It lacked for tomatoes and other ingredients. I ate it, but it was hardly worthy of any praise. We all ordered steaks, which were lukewarm at best upon arrival, like they’d been sitting around waiting for the veggies and potatoes to be prepared. The steaks were overcooked and dry and lacked appreciable flavor. The mashed potatoes were dry and semi cold, the veggies were sparse and hardly warm. The rolls were also bland and dry, like day old stuff. Our waitress apologized for the delay and said they were pretty busy. They did not, however, seem packed. I’m not sure what happened in the kitchen that day, but I’m not sure we’ll ever give this restaurant another visit. Our waitress also failed to refill our waters, though we badly needed more water to wash this crummy meal down. I thought the whole experience was repulsive. My wife flat out refuses to ever set foot inside that place again, claiming she lost her appetite when she spotted Roadkill on the menu, despite the waitress’s assurance that it was really good. We are always satisfied at Longhorn Steakhouse and Outback, where we’ve never had a bad experience. When others try to tell me how much they like this place, I can only cringe, wondering whether they actually had a better experience than we did or just don’t know what they’re talking about. Perhaps they are used to substandard food, but we are not. I grill steaks to perfection and have never screwed up meat this bad in my life! Furthermore, my wife whips up the fluffiest, moist potatoes, and our veggies are always hot off the grill when we make them ourselves. So, my advice to anyone considering this place for a meal is to look elsewhere or cook at home. This is the first zero star rating I’ve ever given anyone and I can’t imagine anything else. A half star would be a real stretch although the glass of water I had might warrant it, minus the refill that we never got. Was there a water shortage that day? I don’t know and I don’t care to know. Very, very disappointed and then some! What a waste of money!
